Racing Staff Week – ROA funds yar BBQS

For a third consecutive year the Racehorse Owners Association will help fund trainers organising BBQs or other social events for their staff and owners during Racing Welfare’s Racing Staff Week (29 June – 6 July 2019). And better yet the cheques have been boosted to £150 from £100 in previous years.

The initiative, which saw around 30 events in 2017 and 2018, provides the ideal environment for owners and staff to get to know each other better in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Owners have cited that an important element of their ownership experience is getting to know the member of staff that cares for their horse(s). It is hoped that these events will continue to develop owner/staff relationships, whilst also celebrating Racing Staff Week and the dedication of racing’s workforce.

Trainers will shortly receive a letter by post detailing how to apply for the funding contribution. Alternatively, forms can be downloaded directly from the ROA website (see below). Closing date for applications is Friday June 7, 2019. A maximum of 25 contributions are available, with successful applications being drawn at random if this number is exceeded. A ROA barbeque pack of an apron, invites and posters will once again be sent to successful applicants.

BBQ organisers will be encouraged to take pictures and share them on social media using #racingstaffweek and #ROABBQs  Feedback on the events will also be invited.
